"It is not the human right to stand not fight while broken nations dream.
Open up our eyes so blind that we might find the mercy for the need.
Fill our hearts with compassion as we hold to our confession."
-Lyrics from Hillsong United
This pierced my heart as I heard it this morning. Thinking of broken nations dreaming while we are supossed to be the land of the "American Dream".
We have lived up to our own standard of the American dream, but what is Gods standard? Fill our hearts with compassion, oh God that we may be your hands and your feet. Fill our hearts and minds with the dreams that are on your heart Lord!

That's huge Laynee and definitely true. It's amazing the things we take for granted as Americans. The power to dream, to hope, to believe are almost foreign here. Hungarian parents teach their kids not to hope so they aren't disappointed actually.....and then if it works out, great. So opposite of the way we see life. I'm always amazed. I'm sure God is stirring your heart for the nations because your life will in some form or another be a seed sown into those places of brokenness. Let it happen. .You will be blessed......
That's crazy to think that parents would teach there children not to hope. I mean childhood is all about dreaming. I would sometime in my life love to live overseas. I know for now God is calling me to settle in, but maybe in a year or so that might change. I definitely have a hunger to get out of America for a bit.
I've often thought lately how empty our notion of the "American Dream" really is. Thank you for sharing these words. I've heard that song a bunch of times without stopping to listen to the words.
