God is definitionless. We can attempt to put him into categories, adjectives and such but we will never fully understand who he is in entirety. Is it futile then to seek? I do not believe so, because the more that we seek the more that we are enlightened. I do think though that we can become so consumed with hunting down answers that we tack God to a corkboard as we would with a lovely arrangements of insects or butterflies. A scientist could tack an insect to a board to more closely inspect its form, coloration and such but with out life in this tiny creature the researcher would never be able to inspect the creations mind or will.
I think that we do this a lot as human beings. We desire to pin point God and say these are his attributes, his heart and his will for these circumstances. I'm not questioning the validity of the Bible nor the clear things that God tells us about his character. I am though questioning the titles that we place on God because of our need for closure or control. I do not want to stick God in a display case and simply view his state @ that moment in time. I want to view him as he is living and breathing and moving in my life.I am willing to be the observer to survey him in his environment, not my own.

When i read this i was reminded by the story of Moses and the burning bush. Moses kept asking what should we call you, what name should we give you and god's answer, "i am that i am." Brilliant because at the very beginning God refused to be a name, a symbol of something that we can give a physical representation to. Obviously this goes hand in hand with the Egyptian culture that was around them which had gods with physical representation. But still it shows that does not wish to be placed in a box of what we think he is
Well stated.
It's so easy to think that if we can only learn more about what there is to know about God...
then somehow we will not feel powerless or helpless or hopeless.
But it takes a new experience of him to realize that knowing things about him pales in comparison to seeing him in the midst of your circumstances.
Thank you for your many open hearted dialogues with me, dearest. You are a true companion, full with redemption.
